During the workshop participants work with reclaimed paper, both your own and a selection provided by Redopapers. During the workshop, you learn the basics of bookbinding as well as other techniques and methods that can be used to further experiment with your own paper materials at home.
The workshops take place in the Redopapers -studio as well as on location.
Below you can find the upcoming workshop dates (Dutch only):
Coptic Stitch & Paperback
During the workshop, we will be making two different books; one using a coptic binding and a softcover book with glued spine – known as paperback. The coptic binding is a widely used technique. It results in a sturdy but elegant binding with an open spine. As this type of book opens flat, it’s perfect for a sketchbook.
Next, we will get to work with the paperback technique. Using common household items as tools, we will create a professional softcover book.
Pocketbook & swiss binding (new!)
During the workshop, we will be making two different books; a pocketbook and a tear-off notepad with Swiss bound cover.
The pocketbook is a neat, practical notebook with a beautiful, sturdy cover made from reclaimed banners from culture centres. Using this clever sewing method, you are able to keep renewing your notebook by adding additional sections as you go. Next, we will experiment with bookbinders glue in different colours to make a tear-off notepad. The Swiss bound cover leaves the colourful spine exposed.
